Rules Rules Rules

I am really struggling with rules.

All rules and no fun make mom...no fun.

No, not that way
Do it again, slower.
Pay attention.
Stop and check if they are ok.
Do this first.
Did you finish that?
Why did you think that was ok?
What are my rules?
Are you listening?
Why did you do that?
Was that a good decision or a bad decision?
Look before you cross.
Pick up this room first.
Pick up that room next.
Work together.
No ice cream until it's done.
No running by the busy street.
No playing with mom's camera.
No, you can't help right now.
BECAUSE.....!!!!
Listen to mom & Dad the first time.
Be kind and loving.
Take your shoes off.
Don't ride the dogs.
No running down the stairs.
No painting right now.
Dirty clothes in the hamper.
Make your bed.
Don't just throw the toys in the closet.
Put your shoes in the shoe box!
Flush the toilet.
Wash your hands.
Put away your clothes.
No arguing.
No bugs in the house.
No picking the flowers.
Becareful on the tree.
Don't play with the ant hill.
Stop biting your nails.
Fingers out of your mouth.
Stop picking your nose.
Go to time out.
Hurry.
MOVE.

fine....do nothing. I'm tired of talking. But now it's time for bed and you don't get dessert.

"WAAAAA!!!!! But I tried!! But I didn't mean to. But Amber did....But Camryn said...But Tyler told me....But I didn't....But it was an accident....I didn't mean to...I'm sorry mom...Please....!!!

This is where we are right now.

He read!!

So I've been teaching Tyler how to read. He has been hearing the girls work on reading and he tries and pretends, so I thought....why not?! It's nothing structured or regular, but we are using a book my girlfriend uses for homeschooling her kids in learning to read, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. Well, tonight...Tyler read his first book!!! Just a little level 1 reader called "Hot Dog". But he did it mostly by himself...even sounding out some of the tougher words. I was so proud!! I just couldn't believe it!!

Sweet Pea Cake

I had the honor making this cake for my friend Janet who is welcoming another pea into the world.

Here was my finalized concept...after a couple of drafts.

I had to make it with play-dough first since I had no clue what I was doing....Tyler prented this was his baby Jesus for the next hour and took good care of it.

There were little snails on the plates we used, so I added some to the cake - but I couldn't get a great picture.

Minus the wording - here is the final product.

"Spa" day

The kids were playing outside...I was sitting on the deck with my eyes closed. Soon it was "spa" time. The cold water and art brushes came out and I was "painted", "cleaned", "groomed"...and in the eyes of the girls...made to look like Princess Cinderella so I was beautiful for Dad. I think he was speechless...

I was to pretend to be sleeping most of the time.

Tyler is the photographer. These are my butterfly rings...

One of my many looks through-out the session.

This was actually not bad...it was to keep me from getting bit by mosquitos.

This is the finished product. They even went into my closet to get new clothes for me to put on over my old ones. Camryn didn't like that you could see my black & white shirt under the grey tank so she got a tea-towel and gave me puffy sleeves like Cinderella's dress...(I'm not sure why this is underlined...)

Surprisingly it was quite relaxing....minus the occasional sopping wet and very cold paint brush in the ear.

There were 2 things I stopped...Tyler cutting my hair...and Amber using a toothbrush to clean my ears and then attempt to brush my teeth. Other than that I must say I was a pretty good sport!
