Pre-packing

It's that time before a vacation where I'm overwhelmed. And I'm usually overwhelmed but organized...and I'm having a hard time getting there this time.

I was up until 2:30 last night. Laid in bed, awake, until after 3.
Heard the first alarm around 5:30.

Sewing, laundry, cleaning, pulling clothes aside, dinners, movies, pick up kids, get food in order for Eric for next week, ....trying to figure out where to start.

But...thankfully we are going to mom & dad's...that means washer & dryer = fewer clothes to pack and less precisely too!

I'm reminded by the quote in F.inding.N.emo...."Just keep swimming...just keep swimming...."

It may only be a doggie paddle...but my head is still above water!

Oh Amber...

The other day I heard panic screams from upstairs...different than normal, so I went to see what was going on. Now - I must admit...I did make her wait so I could go get my camera...because it was too funny. (I know...I'm a bit evil.)
She forgot to undo the bottons before trying to take it off and she was a bit panicked!

Boobs & Belly Cake

My ever-so-talented friend, Holly, does these on a semi-regular basis, along with many other cakes. I finally had the opportunity to try out out myself for a friend's baby shower. It was a lot of fun and not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be.

The concept:

Homemade fondant

Cake form:

Fondant covered chest:

Fondant flowers for the ribbon

Icing covered belly

The finished look!!

Did I mention it was a lot of fun?!

Birthday date

I love my husband. He always includes the little details that mean so much to me. Saturday he took me out for my birthday.

It included a bottle of wine in the back of the expedition, using red plastic cups, while sitting by a lake watching all the boats. There was also a bag of goodies which included all my favorites...Strbks cards, malted eggs, gum, and dark chocolate! (these things are "inside-memories" from past dates...)

Then there was dinner and laughter and drinks on a roof-top patio. Oh - and my new outfit!

Box from afar

We lived across the street from THE best neighbors in Colorado, Sam & Jan.
Hands down - no comparison.
From the time the girls were babies and still on oxygen they would come take them (almost without asking!) just to get a baby fix.
They babysat for us and held sleepovers...with all three kids!
We would just wander over and hang out or go walk through their yard when it was decorated for Halloween and Christmas.
We would wave from our windows across the street.
The kids loved them and they loved the kids. One thing they always had ready for the kids at all times were fruit snacks. So the other day when a heavy random box arrived from them I shouldn't have been surprised what was inside!!
Tyler had to wait a couple of hours before the girls got home to start opening it...notice the girls aren't even out of their jackets.

Distracted by the bubble wrap!

The ultimate gift!!

We all miss you Sam & Jan!
